ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – 6 HOURS PER WEEK

About the Parish Council 

Romanby Parish Council, like all Parish and Town Councils in England, represents the first tier of local government – the one closest and most accessible to the electors. The Council is made up of 12 volunteer Councillors, who receive no monies whatsoever, supported by a paid, part time clerk and responsible financial officer. 

The Councillors represent all the electors of Romanby and have to stand for election every four years. The Parish Council is not a political body, and Councillors do not represent any political party when working for the Parish Council. 

About the Role 

The Parish Council is looking for an administrative assistant to join the small team of employees. You will be responsible for providing general and administrative duties as directed by the Parish Clerk, as well as answering the phones and greeting visitors to the Parish office. You will be assisting the Parish Clerk / RFO with administrative tasks and other duties as directed. Full training will be given. 

Key Requirements 

You will need to have good and accurate literacy and administrative skills and the ability to analyse information to solve general queries. Good IT and keyboard skills are also a requirement of the role. As you will be managing a variety of relationships with different stakeholders, it is important that you have good communication skills and can work on your own initiative. 

Good planning and organisation skills are key for this role, and you should be used to working under pressure to meet deadlines allowing flexibility and resilience.
